Kumasi Hive Holds its 2nd Local Startup Pitch Summit.

Kumasi Hive in partnership with Ghana Tech Lab under the Pathways to Sustainable Employment Program organized a Local Startup Summit on the theme: Digital Media and its potential in Kumasi Entrepreneurial Ecosystem to Accelerate the Creation of Jobs.

The Local Startup Summit which was held on the 1st of July 2021 at the Banivillas Hostel had a lot of industry players attending the event. The pitch was held after trainees were taken through intensive training in Digital Media in the areas of digital marketing, photography, Videography, Sound Engineering, Creative writings, but to mention a few.

After this long training, the participants were asked to come up with a business idea around those areas by identifying a problem and creating the solution.

To understand what the field holds, stakeholders from Digital media were involved in a panel discussion to discuss how attractive the sector is, the challenges, and how they have come this far despite the many people doing the same thing. On the panel were iMorris Photography, Dkshot It Photography, Mmieh Photography, and Jake Shot It.

Four teams made their presentations with business names Tertiary link, Pivot Media, Uocan, and Smart Wise.

At the end of the pitch competition which was presided by a jury of three from the digital media space, Oucan came out as the outstanding business wowing judges and audience with their business ideas.

Presentations were made to the outstanding students throughout the training and they were excited to be appreciated.

The first and second businesses move on to the incubation phase while the 3rd and 4th move to the Internship phase.

At the end of the summit, we had most of the participants expressing their joy on how the training has impacted them positively and hoping to join subsequent training.
