Team DA MIMA Wins the Local Startup Pitch Summit for Kumasi South.
Kumasi Hive collaborated with the Ghana Tech lab for the 4th time to hold its Local Startup Pitch Summit. The summit seeks to allow trainees who went through intensive training to pitch their business ideas; this particular one was no different.
After going through intensive 6-week training in Data Science, the PaSE team at Kumasi Hive held the summit to allow these young, yet innovative individuals to come up with excellent business ideas to pitch to a jury. The event which was held on the 2nd of May 2022 at the Mastercard Foundation Hostel started with a welcome address from the Deputy Manager at Kumasi Hive, Miss Benedicta Naa Odarkor Ablateye, to welcome all stakeholders as well as invited guests to the ceremony. Then a trajectory speech from Mr. Ebenezer Abankwa the Monitoring and Evaluation person at Farmerline Ghana, spoke extensively about the need for data and how individuals, institutions, as well as organizations can leverage the changing trend to use data appropriately. In his speech, he stated emphatically that “Data is the new Gold”, and when taken seriously, will go a long way to influence decisions in organizations.
A panel discussion was later held comprising of Mr. Rex Babo, the M&E person from Kumasi Hive leading the conversation with Mr. Nana Yaw Appiah a reporter from Multimedia Group, Mr. Eugene Osei-Tutu from Multimedia, and a fact checker, and Mr. Ebenezer Abankwa to discuss the use of data and the opportunities available.
The teams proceeded then to pitch their business ideas to a jury of 3 where we had team DaMima, team SMA Data Management Consult, and team HAMACO. After rigorous deliberation and engagement from the Jury, team DA MIMA carried the day as the champions. In all, 3 teams presented their business ideas to a jury.
