The NIMDE3 project, funded by the US Embassy and implemented by Kumasi Hive, started in November. The project sought to provide entrepreneurial and digital marketing skills to some selected Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region. We had schools like KNUST SHS, Ideal College, Ejisu Senior High Technical School, Ejisuman SHS, Kwasi Oppong Senior High School, Kumasi High School, TI Amadiya Senior High, and Kumasi Academy.

The project focusing on encouraging entrepreneurship saw students come up with brilliant business ideas to compete for some cash prizes to scale up their business. At the end of a series of Intra-school and District pitch competitions, we had four (4) schools emerging to the final stage of the competition, the Regional Pitch Competition.

On the 17th of August, 2022 we held the Regional Pitch Competition at Kumasi Hive with these four schools making it to the finals; Kwasi Oppong Senior High School, KNUST Senior High School, Kumasi High School, and Ejisuman SHS. Kwasi Oppong SHS built an automatic dispensing machine as well as offered services in beverages, KNUST came up with a business idea of selling healthy and nutritious smoothies to students and teachers on campus, Ejisuman SHS started a recycling business where they recycled rubber waste into school and shopping bags, and Kumasi High School pitched a business idea on wholesome gari mix for students and parents alike with business names, JAVEP, Bam Bees Smoothies, NextGen, and Good Brother Gari Mix respectively.

In the presence of four juries from the US Embassy, Kumasi Hive, and the Otuomfuo foundation, the four schools pitched their business ideas to win the ultimate prize of $1000 to scale their business. At the end of the competition, Ejisuman SHS came out as the 3rd Runner-up, Kwasi Oppong SHS as the 2nd Runner-up, then KNUST SHS followed as the 1st Runner-up with Kumasi High School emerging as winners for the NIMDE3 Project. The schools won cash prizes of $150, $400, $600, and $1000 respectively.
